Hailing from Heston, Middlesex (home of both Jimmy Page and Richie Blackmore) Simon's early love for music was inspired by his eldest brother listening to classic bands on Radio Caroline in the evenings. Together, Simon and his two brothers would pretend to play along to classic tunes from great bands such as The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones and - later - Genesis and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
Simon started to actually play at secondary school joining a band formed by like-minded fans of Black Sabbath, AC/DC and Van Halen. As his skills behind the kit continued to evolve, Simon found himself drawn to the raw energy and rebellious spirit of what is now called classic rock music.
Simon learned his early chops listening to The Ramones and AC/DC and was much inspired by hard-hitting rhythm masters such as Phil Rudd (AC/DC), Andy Parker (UFO) and John Bonham (Led Zeppelin). As he matured, Simon was drawn to drummers with precision, creativity and virtuosity such as Mark Brzezicki (Big Country), Aaron Comess (Spin Doctors) and Neil Peart (Rush). Simon also draws inspiration from versatile performers such as Phil Selway (Radiohead) and Alen Wren (Reni - The Stone Roses).
Simon loves to gig and has played in a variety of bands performing at smoky pubs, working men's clubs, music venues and festivals. He joined The Superpowers in 2017 and loves the hard-working, but convivial environment the band creates and feels blessed to be able to make a contribution (no matter how small) to the creation and evolution of great tunes.
